Chartered Accountants are experts on the latest business and tax issues and are committed to excellence. Engaging a Chartered Accountant is a smart investment and your assurance of experience and expertise. Getting the right advice can mean the difference between success and failure. As Chartered Accountants we are members of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ) and are governed by their rules and regulations.
Anyone can call themselves an accountant and they do not need to have any accounting qualifications - they may have bought an accounting franchise or started up their own accounting business from home.
However only a Chartered Accountant:
· Is Qualified & trained for a minimum of seven years to achieve their qualification
· Is required to undertake mandatory professional development training
· bound by code of ethics and required to adhere to professional standards
· Is Required to have Professional Indemnity Insurance so clients get paid if mistakes happen (For non Chartered Accountants you may need to apply to the small claims tribunal)
· Is subject to disciplinary procedures - your complaints are looked into by CA ANZ
· Is subject to audit of their work papers & files
If your accountant is not delivering the service you expect then it's time for a change. Change is easy and we will do all the hard work for you:
Call us to discuss your current requirements and any business issues or concerns you may have.
Give us your permission in writing to obtain a copy of your accounting and tax records and to deal with Inland Revenue on your behalf. This is done simply by signing our Engagement Letter which you can download from Resources page or contact us and we will send you one.
We will write to your current accountant of your intention to change and ask for a copy of your accounting and tax records.
It's that simple!
Some common concerns:
Will the IRD be concerned if you change accountants?
No. Changing accountants is a normal part of business life.
Will your previous accountant send you an invoice to handover your documents to us?
Your outgoing accountant may charge you for their time in gathering the needed information for your new accountant but usually they won't. We don't!
What about the Companies Office records?
Once we have received your accounting and tax records from your prior accountant we will advise the Companies Office of the change of registered office.
What is the difference between a Chartered Accountant and an Accountant?
Anyone can call themselves an accountant. They may have purchased an accounting franchise or simply set themselves up at home to make extra money. A chartered accountant is a member of Chartered Accountant Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ) and must comply with CAANZ's complex rules and regulations.
